Before the Bigs:

  • Sizemore was selected in the third round of the June 2000 draft (75th overall) by the Montreal Expos.
  • He was recruited to play football and baseball for the University of Washington, but opted to go straight into baseball after graduating from Cascade High School in Everett, Wash.
  • In football, he was Cascade's all-time leading rusher with 3,081 yards and set a school record with 16 career interceptions.
  • He was traded to the Indians in a six-player deal in 2002, coming to the Indians with pitcher Cliff Lee and infielder Brandon Phillips. Indians ace pitcher Bartolo Colon was sent to Montreal in the deal.

Career Highlights:

  • Made his big-league debut on July 21, 2004.
  • Chosen as an AL All-Star in 2006 and 2007.
  • In 2006, he became one of only two players in MLB history (Chuck Klein of the Philadelphia A's was the other, in 1932) to compile at least 50 doubles, 10 triples, 25 home runs and 20 stolen bases in a season.
  • Led the American League in runs scored in 2006 with 134.
