- Sizemore was selected in the third round of the June 2000 draft (75th overall) by the Montreal Expos.
- He was recruited to play football and baseball for the University of Washington, but opted to go straight into baseball after graduating from Cascade High School in Everett, Wash.
- In football, he was Cascade's all-time leading rusher with 3,081 yards and set a school record with 16 career interceptions.
- He was traded to the Indians in a six-player deal in 2002, coming to the Indians with pitcher Cliff Lee and infielder Brandon Phillips. Indians ace pitcher Bartolo Colon was sent to Montreal in the deal.
