Below is a rundown of players whose contract are set to expire after the 2009 season, with updates on where they signed and their contract details. Players are broken down by position and will be broken by the type of free agent they are (the Elias Sports Bureau sets this at a later date). This page will be updated throughout the postseason.
Type A free agents are considered as ranking in the top 20 percent of players in their position groups by the Elias Sports Bureau. Teams that lose a Type A free agent are compensated with two draft picks. Teams that lose a Type B free agent, a player ranked in the top 40 percent in the league at his position, receive one additional draft pick. Read more about baseball's free agency rules here.
Players listed below are free agents in the winter of 2009, with their 2009 team, age as of the beginning of the 2010 season and their new salary, if available.
