Career Highlights:
- A great power pitcher for more than a decade, he won 209 games in his 14 seasons.
- Won the Cy Young Award in 1962, when went 25-9 with a 2.83 ERA at age 25.
- Won three World Series, winning a game in each of the series in 1959, 1963 and 1965.
- Holds All-Star records with eight games pitched, including five starts, and went 2-1 with a 1.40 ERA.
- In his final full season in 1968, he threw 58 consecutive scoreless innings.
- Also was a good hitter, hitting an NL-record seven homers in a season twice.
- Retired at age 32 with shoulder injuries.
After Retirement:
- Was a popular TV figure, appearing as a guest star on several TV shows.
- Was a broadcaster for the Montreal Expos, Texas Rangers, California Angels, Chicago White sox and Dodger until his death. Also was a broadcaster for ABC's Wide World of Sports
- Died of a heart attack in Montreal during a Dodgers road trip.
