Most underrated fantasy closer

Joe Borowski makes every ninth inning interesting, but came through last year and should have plenty of chances for saves again in 2008.

Joe Borowski, Indians

Average position ranking on other popular fantasy baseball sites: 22

Why he’s not liked: His ERA (5.07) and WHIP (1.43) were not closer-like, and he became known for making things interesting in his first season as the Tribe’s ninth-inning specialist. And then there’s the outstanding Rafael Betancourt, the Indians' closer-in-waiting.

Why he should be: He’s saved a combined 81 games the last two seasons, and there’s no reason to think he won’t save 40 games again for a team that should be one of baseball’s best. Don’t be deceived by his high ERA. In three appearances last season, he allowed a combined 14 earned runs in 1 2/3 innings. In his other 64 innings pitched, he had a 3.23 ERA.
