Before The Bigs:
- In 1984, he was drafted in two sports, hockey and baseball. He was picked in the second round by the Braves (47th overall) and in the fourth round by the Los Angeles Kings (69th overall).
- Went 29-32 in four minor-league seasons in the Atlanta organization, including 6-12 at Triple-A Richmond in 1987, but had a solid 3.32 ERA.
- Went 7-17 in 1988 at age 22 in his first full big-league season.
- Turned it around in 1989 by going 14-8, and posted his first 20-win season in 1991. He went 20-11 for the pennant-winning Braves and won the first of his two National League Cy Young Awards.
- Went 20-8 in 1992 and 22-6 in 1993, and is the last major-league pitcher to win 20 games for three consecutive seasons.
- With Greg Maddux and John Smoltz, Glavine was part of one of the most dominant starting rotations in baseball history. They won seven Cy Young Awards from 1991 to 1998.
- Was named MVP of the 1995 World Series, when he threw eight shutout innings and allowed just one hit in the clinching Game 6 against Cleveland.
- Won his second Cy Young in 1998, when he went 20-6 for the Braves.
- Left Atlanta and signed a four-year, $42.5 million deal with the New York Mets in 2003.
- Won two postseason games for the Mets in 2006, improving to 13-11 in the playoffs in his career.
