  • Graduated from the same suburban Toronto high school as former Dodgers relief pitcher Eric Gagne.
  • Martin was drafted by the Dodgers in the 17th round in 2002, 511th overall.
  • Ascended one step in the minors each season, hitting 15 home runs at Single-A Vero Beach, .311 at Double-A Jacksonville and .297 in 23 games at Triple-A Las Vegas before getting called up to the Dodgers.
  • Career Highlights:

    • Was ninth in the National League Rookie of the Year voting in 2006.
    • He hit .282 with 10 homers, 26 doubles, 65 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 121 games in 2006. The Dodgers were 71-43 (.623) when he started at catcher.
    • On June 6, 2006, Martin and Gagne became the first French-Canadian battery in major-league history in a game for the Dodgers.
