Before The Bigs:
- Signed as an undrafted free agent in December 2000 by the Cleveland Indians.
- After going 2-4 in his first pro season at rookie-level Burlington, he went 17-4 in 2003 in the inaugural season of Single-A Lake County, located in a Cleveland suburb.
- Split the 2004 season between Single-A Kinston and Double-A Akron, and split 2005 between Akron and Triple-A Buffalo, going 13-9.
- Called up to the Indians in April 2006, and defeated the Tigers in his big-league debut. But he didn't win another game that season.
- After losing his next two starts, he moved to the bullpen, and when the Indians traded Bob Wickman to Atlanta, Carmona became the team's closer, with distastrous results. From July 30 through Aug. 5, Carmona had four losses and three blown saves. He finished the season 1-10 with a 5.42 ERA.
- Made the Indians as their fifth starter in 2007, and threw his first big-league shutout against the Twins on May 17.
