On March 29, 2008, an attendance record was set for any baseball game as the Los Angeles Dodgers announced a crowd of 115,300 in the Los Angeles Coliseum for an exhibition game against the Boston Red Sox.
The Red Sox won 7-4 as catcher Kevin Cash hit a three-run home run. The Dodgers' James Loney homered over a 60-foot screen in left field - it was just 201 feet down the left-field line, which is essentially a little-league distance. The Dodgers played at the Coliseum with its quirky dimensions from 1958-62, when Dodger Stadium was being built.
The previous record for attendance at a baseball game was set in 1958, when 114,000 attended an exhibition between the Australian national team and an American services team in Melbourne, Australia, during the 1956 Olympics.
