The Portland (Ore.) Beavers are the Class AAA affiliate of the San Diego Padres and play in the Pacific North Division of the Pacific Coast League with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, Salt Lake Bees and Tacoma Rainers.

History:

Portland has roots in the Pacific Coast League from as far back as 1903. The team was always named the Beavers. The current franchise was formed in 2001, when Triple-A baseball returned. Two other Pacific Coast League teams – the Las Vegas 51s and the Salt Lake Bees – were once the Beavers. Other Pacific Coast League affiliations over the years:

  • 1957-58: Chicago Cubs
  • 1959, 1962-63: Kansas City A’s
  • 1961: St. Louis Cardinals
  • 1964-69, 1972, 1978: Cleveland Indians

  • 1983-86: Philadelphia Phillies
  • 1987-93: Minnesota Twins
  • 2001-present: San Diego Padres

Pacific Coast League: 8 (1906, 1910, 1911, 1913, 1914, 1932, 1936, 1983)
