Getting To The Olympic Level

Players in the Olympics have generally played baseball since they were small children. Almost all are professional softball players who progressed through youth leagues, high school and college softball.

Unlike baseball, most of the softball players play in multiple Olympic Games. For example, pitcher Lisa Fernandez has competed in each of the first three Olympics for Team USA, and will return in 2008.
