History:

The franchise was founded in 1969 as the Seattle Pilots, an American League expansion team. The team moved to Milwaukee a year later and became the Brewers. The Brewers agreed to move to the National League in 1998 to keep an even number of teams in each league when Arizona and Tampa Bay were granted expansion franchises.

Memorable Moment:

  • In 1982, a hard-hitting team dubbed “Harvey’s Wallbangers” – a play on the name of manager Harvey Kuehn – advanced to the playoffs and the World Series for the only time in the team’s history. But the Brewers lost in seven games to the St. Louis Cardinals.
