  • Nicknamed "Sunny Jim" because of his disposition.
  • Had a career slugging average of .500.
  • Hit .371 in his first full season and had a career batting average of .310 in 16 seasons.
  • NL MVP in 1928, when he hit .325 with 20 triples, 136 RBI and 31 homers.
  • Helped lead the Cardinals to a World Series title in 1926 and played in three other World Series.

After Baseball:

  • Managed the Browns for half a season, and managed in the minors.
  • Bought a cattle farm in Missouri.
