Career Highlights:
- Was a sports writer in New York - known as the ghost writer for Babe Ruth - and a pioneer of the nightly radio news report.
- Became National League public relations director in 1934, and league president the next year. He helped spearhead the idea of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
- Became commissioner of baseball in 1951, and is perhaps best known for attaching an asterisk in the record books for Roger Maris' single-season home run record, set in 1961.
Legacy:
- The Hall of Fame's broadcasting award, known as the broadcaster's wing of the Hall, is named the Ford C. Frick Award.
