Notes

He is the seventh AL rookie to win the award by a unanimous vote and the first since Nomar Garciaparra in 1997. He led AL rookies in home runs (27), RBI (85), total bases (238) and extra-base hits (60).
- Longoria is the first player in Rays franchise history (11 years) to earn an award from the baseball writers.
- Soto, the first rookie catcher to ever be selected by fans as an All-Star starter, was the only NL player named on all ballots.
- Soto is the fifth NL catcher to win the award (Johnny Bench, Earl Williams, Benito Santiago and Mike Piazza are the others).
