History:
The franchise was founded in 1901 as the Washington Senators. The team moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1961 and was named the Twins, a reference to the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Memorable Moments:
- The 1987 Twins only won 85 games in the regular season, but got hot in the playoffs and won their first World Series, winning all four games at the Metrodome.
- They repeated the feat in 1991, winning another dramatic seven-game series against the Atlanta Braves in the worst-to-first World Series. Both teams had finished in last place in their divisions in 1990.
