- The 1954 Indians won 111 games, a record that stood until 1998. The Indians were upset in the World Series by the New York Giants in four games.
- In the strike-shortened 1995 season, the Indians went 100-44 and advanced to their first World Series in 41 years, but lost to the Atlanta Braves in six games. The team came two outs away from a title in 1997, leading in Game 7 against the Florida Marlins, but blew the one-run lead and lost in 11 innings.
