Notes

  • Wedge is the first Indians manager to win the award, which was first presented in 1983. The Indians improved by 18 wins in 2007 (78 wins to 96).
  • Wedge, 39, is the third-youngest manager to win the award (Buck Showalter won at age 38 in 1994; Tony La Russa won at 39 in 1983).
  • Melvin, 46, led the Diamondbacks to a 14-game improvement in 2007 and led the Diamondbacks to the best record in the NL in the regular season. He is the first to win the award while managing Arizona.
