Scott Kendrick

Scott Kendrick is an assistant sports editor for the Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville, Florida, and previously covered baseball and other sports as a writer and sports editor for The Lake County News-Herald in suburban Cleveland.

Scott has covered every level of baseball and softball for more than 15 years, from high schools to the 1997 World Series.

Scott has a bachelor's degree in journalism and a minor in English from The Ohio State University.

Baseball has taken many hits in the past decade or so, from labor strife to steroid allegations to the uneven playing field that puts a lineup making $100 million on the same field as a lineup making $5 million.

But the fans keep coming back because of the game. Its history and its beauty grabs us and holds us. It's hard to remember many things from age 5, but I will always remember the first time I walked up the ramp into the upper deck at Cleveland Municipal Stadium, looked out and saw the greenest grass I'd ever seen and the huge scoreboard, with the players warming up on the field. It doesn't get much better.

My goal is to bring that passion to you, filling you in on the questions you might have wondered about that game the other night, relaying a quirky story that slipped though the cracks on the score crawl or teaching the basics of the game.
