ALCS: So what are the Red Sox wearing?
I get asked weird questions all the time - keep 'em coming, of course - and thanks to Yahoo Sports, I can answer one of them.
Just what are those necklaces that the Red Sox players seem to wear?
No, they're not some statement about hemp, contrary to an urban legend. They're actually called Phiten necklaces, made with titanium, and they're supposed to offer some kind of pain relief.
Who knows if they actually work - they certainly didn't help Josh Beckett on Saturday night in Tampa - but you'll likely see Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester wearing one Tuesday afternoon in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series. He's a cancer survivor, and on a heck of a roll, so there's no knocking it in this corner.

“Who knows if they actually work”
Are you serious? Of course they don’t work.
I didn’t believe they worked either, actually thought it was BS, but was told to try one out anyway.
I’ve been wearing it for over 4 years now.
Significant reduction in tension headaches and neck stiffness.
