The inspiration for the lead character in the baseball movie "A League Of Their Own" died over the weekend.
Lavonne "Pepper" Paire-Davis, a catcher and shortstop in the All American Girls Professional Baseball League, was 88. She played in the league for 10 years.
"I know what it's like for your dream to come true, mine did," Paire-Davis said in an AP story in 1995. "Baseball was the thing I had the most fun doing. It was like breathing."
