Trout, Harper are Rookies of the Year

By November 12, 2012

Looking for next year's Rookies of the Year? Maybe we should examine the roster of the Scottdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League.

At this time last year, Mike Trout and Bryce Harper were both playing in the outfield for the Scorpions. In April, they got called up to the big leagues on the same day. And neither of them stopped hitting when they got there.

Trout was the expected unanimous pick as AL Rookie of the Year on Monday, and Harper was picked in a close vote in the National League over Wade Miley of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Check out more, as well as the vote totals, for 2012 AL and NL Rookie of the Year. On Tuesday, the Managers of the Year will be announced.

(1) Drew says:

Have no problem with the Trout pick. It’s only a matter of whether he or Miggy will be the top draft pick in next year’s fantasy drafts.

Have a big problem with the Harper pick. After three years of brainwashing by the media, it seems 22 HRs is all you need to abscond with a trophy. Both Miley and Frasier meant more to their respective teams’ fortunes than Harper. While both a significant impact, I think Miley was robbed of what was deservedly his. Arizona wouldn’t have even been close without his arm taking the place of an ineffective Kennedy and all the other injuries.

As far as I’m concerned, Wade Miley is the 2012 NL ROY.
