The St. Louis Cardinals will return to the playoffs after clinching the NL Central title on Saturday after beating the wild-card leading Colorado Rockies, and the Los Angeles Dodgers have locked up at least a postseason berth after beating the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The best races are the AL Central - the Detroit Tigers lead by just two over the Minnesota Twins - and the NL wild card, as the Rockies are trying to hold off the Atlanta Braves (2.5 back) and Florida Marlins (4 back). The Giants and Cubs are still mathematically alive as well.
- Yankees: Have clinched playoffs; 1 to clinch AL East; 1 to clinch home-field advantage throughout playoffs (including World Series, as the AL won the All-Star Game)
- Tigers: 7 to clinch AL Central
- Angels: 4 to clinch AL West
- Red Sox: 3 to clinch AL wild card
- Phillies: 4 to clinch NL East
- Cardinals: Have clinched NL Central
- Dodgers: Have clinched playoff spot; 2 to clinch NL West; 5 to clinch home-field advantage in NL playoffs
- Rockies:6 to clinch NL wild card
